These are my Barista’s they keep me going everyday and they are never without a smile! Sandy the one on the left gave one of her kidneys away to a total stranger, who was a customer at my Starbucks; she saved the women’s life! The woman came in everyday for a coffee and one day she was not her normal self, and seemed down. Sandy asked her what was wrong and she informed Sandy that the doctor told her she was in kidney failure and if she did not get a kidney fast she would have less than 6 months to live.

The woman said it was not so much her dying as her not being able to see her grandkids grow up. Therefore, Sandy decided that this was her chance to save someone else and she could not stand the fact of the grandkids not having their grandma. Therefore, she was tested and was a match and gave up one of her kidneys without a second thought. They are both doing great and the woman that received the kidney is doing remarkable not a glitch at all, her body accepted it and she is living a great life.

I find it the most amazing gift that anyone could give and that she did it for a stranger is even more remarkable. We all need to sign up to be donors, we must remember that the donor list is long so we may want to think about giving what we can while we are alive and not just after we die.

Just remember our small actions affect the lives of many!

I am so proud to have her as my barista, and to know her as an unconditional loving friend!

They were contacted by several shows like Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah although I guess their story was not what the public would want to hear about so they did not make the shows.

I just wanted to take time to let you know their amazing story and the love they have in their hearts, I can only hope and pray that if I ever need an organ to save my life someone will be there for me

Well believe it or not November is here! I have no idea where the time goes. I am gearing up for Christmas, I have been hiding out in my studio making many fun gifts to add at the end of the month for your Christmas shopping. Even a great surprise, to be announced later in the month. I am also making handmade Christmas Ornaments for an ornament exchange very exciting! And I will end up with 5 new handmade ornaments how wonderful it that, I love that factor. I will post them when I receive them as a show and tell.
Hope everyone has a great first week of November, without too much rain and/or snow.

Daylight savings time US

Here is the US version "the fist national observance of daylight savings time in the United States was in 1918, to save energy during WW1. This lasted seven months before being repealed. A similar, year round, national observance went into effect in WWII, starting February 9, 1942, and ending September 30, 1945.
For the next two decades, there was no national rule regarding DST. Individual states, cities, and towns could start or end at ant point. This led to nationwide confusion, as the country became a patchwork of different observances. Finally, in, 1966, Congress passed the Uniform Tume Act, establishing DST as begining on the last Sunday in April and ending on the last Sunday of October. No area was required to observe daylight savings time in the first place, but those that chose to do so were required to use the nationwide starting and ending dates.
Those starting and ending dates have changed over the years. From 1986 through 2006, DST ran from the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October. Beginning in 2007, the observance starts on the second Sunday in March and ends in the first Sunday in November, adding an additional month.

Hooray for October and Breast Care Awareness

Please see picture and Blog Post below. I have decided that this week I will give away one of my Breast Cancer Awareness Bracelets (these were made for 2009 and will not be duplicated). All you need to do is leave me a comment or sign my guest book on my website or sign up to receive my email (remember if you do all three you have more of a chance to win). I am so supportive of the need for mammograms for both men and women and have been raising money to go to my local Susan G Komen Center, so please enter my giveaway and feel free to purchase one as well) They are each different since they are hand made by me and I do my best not to duplicate exactly the same thing. Although as you know when it is handmade if will always be different and have its own character
(the winner's name will be drawn on Sunday October 25th and the winner will have until Monday October 26th at 3:00pm Pacific time to claim their prize or I will draw another name)

Just a note that if you are already on any of the above lists you will automatically be entered into the drawing.

Good Luck!

Hi all my friends, I took you on another walk this weekend the weather was great although it had the smell and nip of cold fall weather. This is my favorite time of year as the leaves turn amazing colors and become crisp as you walk on them (picture to come later after they change more). I take so many deep breaths just to take in the fall air. I love the North West we have all four seasons although they are mild to the rest of the states. I hope you enjoyed are walk together!
